9 weeks

Michael and I went to the doctor yesterday, and to see our baby via ultrasound for the second time. What an amazing sight! The first time we saw the baby, it was, well, a blob. Yesterday, we were able to clearly distinguish a tiny head, body, and arms and legs. The sonographer also was pleased with the heartbeat- 170 beats per minute. I could happily hear that sound everyday. The doctor says the baby is measuring exactly as it should for a 9-week fetus. The most amazing thing, though, was watching those tiny little arms and legs flailing everywhere. Last time, we were able to see and hear a heartbeat, but we didn't see any movement. Amazing! Our next ultrasound is scheduled for February, in which we'll find out the baby's gender.

I'm feeling pretty well. Only a little nausea in the beginning, no vomiting. Mostly, I am just very tired. I come home in the evenings ready for a shower and bedtime. It's very hard for me to get motivated to clean or do anything other than rest. I'm told my energy will soon return. Additionally, there is already a baby bump. Yes, you read that correctly- I'm only 9 weeks and there is a bump. No more regular clothes here- I'm already wearing  maternity clothes.

Michael is taking very good care of me, and it's really sweet how excited he is. We're so excited about this new journey in our lives and what's in store for us.

Here is your first picture of my belly: I don't look pregnant from the front or back, but when I turn to the side...different story. And please ignore my cheesin'- Michael was making me laugh.
