Snowmaggedon Part 2....or 3?

Well, I'm out of school again today because it snowed...and this time, it snowed more than it did last time! Asheboro was hit huch harder than Siler City, but we've still got at least 7.5 inches or maybe 8. Even though I am not happy about missing school again, I am using the day to my advantage- I'm getting a jumpstart on some of my upcoming graduate school projects. The end of the semester will be here before we know it, and I've got three major projects to knock out.

I took Bear out for a little "play-in-the-snow" time this morning, since he loves snow- he was so hilarious. I had a blast with him. Here are some pictures of the most recent Snowmaggedon.

He likes to lie in the snow.

He ran all around the yard and rooted up the snow in the backyard! Next time I need to shovel the walk, I'll just let him clear it for me.

Our bird feeder, with a huge snow drift on top.

Can you tell we haven't been down our back steps today?

HEY! What happened to my feet?

Our hill...notice it has been scraped.

Our house...see my poor smothered azaleas?

Michael's truck. He went out before work this morning to knock the snow off his work Blazer, and wore Sperries to do so...What resulted were Sperries full of snow!

That is all! Maybe some more pictures to come after Michael gets home.

Needs to catch up!!

I haven't posted in awhile, due to my midterms. Have we ever been busy here at casa de Boone!

Last weekend, Michael and I got up early Saturday morning and went on a little vacation to the NC mountains. We've been trying to go to the mountains the entire two years we've been together and something always gets in the way. We finally made it this time! We went to Boone, Blowing Rock, Valle Crucis, Foscoe, Newland,Banner Elk, and back to Valle Crucis again! There was still snow on the ground but the roads were perfectly fine. Since Mast General Store was having its big winter sale, I got a cute pair of snow boots (can't find them ANYWHERE here) and a cute white winter vest. Michael looked at lots of things but bought nothing...so picky.

We ate ourselves silly on this trip, too- we had lunch at the Dan'l Boone Inn and dinner at Makoto's in Boone...I don't know where we managed to put all that food, but it was worth the misery.

Ever since I graduated and left the mountains, I've wanted to move back. Someday, we might just do that. We wouldn't dare do it now- why move away from family when you're going to have children?

Here are some pretty sights we saw while in the mountains:

A one-room school house in Valle Crucis, a beautiful bridge on the Parkway, and look whose bus parked right beside us in Boone? The Siler City Pentacostal Church's bus, that's who!

Hope everyone had a good weekend! We're off to church now.

No longer snowed in!!!

I am finally out of the house! I'm glad, because I was really runningo ut of things to do. My homework is finished and my house has never been cleaner.

School was out for the kiddies today, but we staff members (a lot of us, anyway) braved the roads to show up for our "optional teacher workday with a two-hour delay!" I feel super-accomplished for making that 21-mile drive in the sleet and ice-I'm typically too chicken to try it.

The roads weren't too bad. Getting out of our driveway was a little rough, there was a definite fish-tail effect when I pulled out of our road, and the road where GBT is located was a bit scary....but I managed to make it here in one piece.

Class was cancelled last night, is cancelled again tonight, and we'd already planned to meet online for Thursday's class...I can honestly say I don't mind not making that drive this week. The meteorologists now say we might be in for more "winter weather" this Friday. We'll see- but just in case, I'm going to go to Mama's and get my sled out of her basement, and buy a new pair of boots. Now watch me make those preparations, and it won't snow again!!

I can honestly say I'm enjoying just how much I'm getting to see my husband this week- graduate school has really taken away from my time with him. This semester is especially rough, since I am in class three nights a week. Even though it's tough, I keep reminding myself it isn't forever, and I'll be finished in September.

Hope everyone stays warm and dry!

Winter Wonderland

For those of you who don't live here, we have snow. This is a big deal, because we never get any!! The meteorologists predicted this storm wasn't supposed to start until 12 a.m. Saturday, but it started at dinnertime Friday. Since then, it has been reaaaaallllly cold, alternatly snowing or sleeting. And my husband has been out twice to a fire.

Church was cancelled, nothing is open, and I'm sure class and school will be closed tomorrow. I'm not crazy about losing my spring break but I have to admit I am really excited about all this time I'm getting to spend with my husband. We haven't seen one another this much in a long time- it's like we're dating again! I could definitely get used to it. Friday night, we just turned off all the lights, opened the blinds, and watched it snow!

We didn't go out and play in the snow, but we did venture out to look at all the pretty snow. Wanna see the pictures?

Michael braved the cold to bring me Diet Pepsi- Bless him!

Our Mailbox decorated for Valentine's Day!!

Our house in the snow!

Boling Park...no one is out playing here, apparently.

Downtown...not much going on today.

City Hall in the snow- beautiful!!
